The CX 25 Prestige saloon appeared in February 1976 on an extended wheelbase, increasing the length of the CX 25 car by 25 cm to provide more room for the doors and rear seats to create a very comfortable passenger compartment with optional extras such as an interior removable glass partition.
In 1983, the new 2.5 litre, 138 hp DIN engine, found in the CX 25 models, became standard in the CX 25 Prestige.
The CX 25 Series 1 was followed by the Series 2 in July 1985.
The Series 2 was modified with new front and rear bumpers with coloured bodyshell, a horizontal cut-out on the rear wing and a new dashboard with circular instrumentation.
After spending several years stored between 2011 and 2017, this 1987 Citroen CX 25 Prestige automatic underwent a thorough service where £1,389 was spent at Citroen specialist Andrew Brodie before being taken on a tour of the south of France which was successfully and reliably completed. This rare, long‑wheel based, Prestige is believed to be one of twelve Series II remaining in the UK and was previously owned by a former secretary of the CX section of the Citroen Car Club.
